EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A 29-year-old man was arrested Sunday night following a hit-and-run crash on South Harlan Avenue. The incident unfolded in the 1100 block of South Harlan Avenue, where police responded to a call regarding a vehicle collision.
According to police reports, a woman stated that a man driving a red car crashed into her parked Jeep. The driver then approached her, showed his ID, and allegedly requested that she not contact the police. However, as the woman began to dial 911, the man quickly returned to his car and fled the scene.
Despite the driver’s attempt to escape, the woman was able to record the vehicle’s license plate number and provide officers with a description of the suspect. Police traced the plate to Guidiel Rodriguez Roblero, whose address was located just four blocks away from the crash site.
Upon arriving at Rodriguez’s residence, officers noted that his car showed signs of heavy damage, including a flat tire and a missing bumper, which had been left at the crash scene. Rodriguez reportedly attempted to hide behind curtains inside his home but eventually came to the door, where he was taken into custody.
While speaking with officers, Rodriguez displayed signs of intoxication, and a subsequent chemical test revealed his blood alcohol content (BAC) to be 0.233 – nearly three times the legal limit. He was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into jail.
Rodriguez now faces charges related to the crash, including operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
