Evansville, IN – A 25-year-old man was arrested Monday night after crashing into a parked car on South Linwood Avenue and fleeing the scene.
According to the Evansville Police Department, officers responded to the scene of the crash after receiving a report of the collision. A witness provided police with a description of the driver, which led investigators to focus their search in the nearby area.
While examining the abandoned vehicle, officers discovered a phone inside the car, which was traced to an address on Adams Avenue. Police then expanded their search to the area and soon found a man who matched the description of the driver.
The suspect, identified as Breyner Vazquez, reportedly ran into a house when he noticed officers approaching. Police were able to catch him inside the home. During questioning, Vazquez admitted to owning a car similar to the one involved in the crash.
Vazquez was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being taken into custody. He now faces charges related to the hit-and-run incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
