Evansville, IN – A 53-year-old Evansville man is back behind bars after allegedly firing a shotgun inside a home during a domestic argument.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Evansville Police responded to a 911 hang-up call in the 1200 block of East Sycamore Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the glass on the front door of the residence had been shattered, and there was a large hole in the right side of the door.
The suspect, identified as Rodney N. Davis, reportedly told police that he fired the shotgun during an argument with a victim inside the home. The incident was later determined to be a domestic dispute.
According to an affidavit, Davis has a lengthy criminal history, including four prior convictions for battery, two of which are felonies. Due to his status as a convicted felon, he faces an additional charge for Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon.
Davis was arrested and transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail, where he is being held without bond. He is facing several charges, including Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and Domestic Battery.
No injuries were reported in the incident. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Davis’s arrest serves as another example of law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to address domestic violence and gun-related crimes in the area. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
