Evansville, IN – The Evansville Fire Department’s B-Shift Dive Team conducted ice dive training on December 17, 2025, taking advantage of thick ice conditions in the area.
Officials said ice suitable for training is uncommon, making the exercise an important opportunity for skill development. While divers may not always be visible beneath the ice, their movements can be tracked by air bubbles rising to the surface.
The department highlighted the training as a critical component of preparedness for cold-weather water rescue operations.
