Evansville, IN — A local couple was arrested early Sunday morning after a domestic dispute led to threats involving a firearm and a knife.
According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call at the 7400 block of Greenbriar Drive, where a man, later identified as James Morris, reported that his wife, Andrea Morris, had threatened him with a knife.
James Morris told deputies that he had dropped Andrea off at Chasers Bar and Grill around 8 p.m. Saturday evening. She was later returned to their home by a female friend at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday. Upon her return, James explained, Andrea became upset and entered the living room holding a knife, which she allegedly used to threaten him.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found James standing in the driveway with his three children. He informed them that Andrea was still inside the home.
In a separate interview, Andrea Morris told deputies that she had received a threatening text message from her husband prior to their arrival. She claimed the message contained a photograph of a firearm. According to the affidavit, when deputies examined James’ phone with his permission, they discovered a series of threatening messages, as well as an image of a shotgun placed next to a box of ammunition.
Both James and Andrea Morris were arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail. James has been charged with Communication-Intimidation, while Andrea faces charges of Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon.
Authorities are still awaiting the release of Andrea Morris’ mugshot.
