Indianapolis, Indiana – An effective rental aid program is likely to come to an end in Indianapolis.
On Monday, June 26, at noon, the IndyRent program will stop taking new applications to “ensure that applications in the queue can be covered by remaining funding,” the city announced on Friday.
Although the break is just momentary, city officials did not specify when the application process will pick back up.
Applications for tenants submitted prior to the deadline on Monday will still be considered. An eviction case number is required for all applications. Before applying, Indianapolis tenants can check their eligibility online.
At the end of April, the IndyRent program relaunched with a court-based, eviction-prevention-focused structure. Since 2020, the city has awarded 68,127 qualified applicants nearly $200 million in IndyRent money.
Anyone in Marion County facing eviction can still get free legal counsel and rental aid from the city.
