Richmond, Indiana – A 67-year-old Richmond man was subdued on Friday with the assistance of several bystanders before he was initially charged with murder, according to police.
On Friday night, Richmond Police Department Capt. Curt Leverton posted on social media that when his officers arrived, Richmond resident Michelle Dionne Peacock, 59, was already deceased.
Police were called to a complaint of a disturbance in the first block of South 14th Street by dispatchers on Friday at 1:20 p.m. That is located just off U.S. 40 in an area containing a church, a few shops, and homes to the east of downtown.
Bystanders were attempting to take down Tommy Wayne Earl, 67, so police were told to go down the street. He was taken into arrest by police.
Earl allegedly threatened Peacock and may have even slashed her, according to the police.
On Friday night, online records revealed that Earl was still being held in the Wayne County jail on preliminary accusations of murder and defiant behavior. The internet jail record revealed that he was being held without bond.
