Galena, Indiana – During the 19-team Floyd Central Invitational at Valley View on Saturday, Bedford North Lawrence finished fifth.
The Stars posted a team total of 340. No.11 Indianapolis Cathedral won the event with 318, followed by No.10 Evansville North (319), No.7 Bloomington South (320) and No.12 Columbus North (320).
Jett Jones paced BNL with a score of 80. Trevin Hutchinson carded 81, Colton Staggs finished with 87, and Dylan Endris fired a 92 to complete the scoring for the Stars.
“Jett got off to a great start” BNL coach Jeff Hein said. “After a bad putting round on Thursday, he put in the work and putted much better. He was even par after his first eight holes, then got on the bogey train in the second half of his round. He showed glimpses of the type of player he can be. He just needs to be more consistent and learn how to finish a good round.
“Trevin started poorly then steadied his round and played his middle stretch at 1-over. He struggled to finish his round as well. As you can see from the top four teams, every stroke counts. It doesn’t matter if it’s the first hole or the last, they all count the same. We need to do a better job of finishing and sprinting through the tape. As the season progresses, we should do nothing but get better once we turn the page from winter golf to spring golf.”
On April 14, BNL will compete in the Washington invitational at Country Oaks.
