EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A 27-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence after police found him in the Bally’s parking garage with a severely damaged vehicle. Andrew Lehman, of Evansville, was discovered by officers with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20—more than twice the legal limit.
According to the Evansville Police Department (EPD), security personnel at Bally’s contacted authorities after witnessing Lehman’s truck strike a curb at the bottom of the parking garage, causing the front driver’s side tire to be torn off. Despite the damage, security staff reported that Lehman continued driving into the garage.
The situation took a strange turn when Lehman reportedly called police himself, stating that he “did not know what he did.” Officers soon located him between the second and third floors of the parking garage, where he had driven the wrong way and parked in an improper spot.
Lehman was arrested at the scene and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail. He faces charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a crash.
